Clearly, I have little life: (An expansion of comments on Komor’s article)

I’ll use colour coding here. Make it a bit easier. For those familiar with the visual novel, When They Cry 3/4, I’ll use those colours. Being red and blue text. Red is a fact. Blue being for a theory. Using my research, I’m going to try to predict realisitically, in an unbiased manner.

So, let’s begin.

Part 1:

If the all-star teams only counted top scorers, the 10 top scorers would take every position, including the defenders and goal keeper positions. Top goal scorer is not the same as Most Valuable Player, top goal scorer only indicates which foward a majority of the team favours to use. We do not know what an actual, real-life game of yooyuball would look like. All team members would be involved, not just a single forward. However, Top Goal scorer counts a tiny bit when it comes to choosing the all-star teams. In the third cup, Mirsha Grelinek was on the first team, despite Shenkuu coming in 4th, due to her top position on the top scorers chart.

However, Lilo Blumario was in 6th place on the top scorer charts. Zo Junior, ‘Dasher’ Soley and Vonde Cayle and Bertie Shurtz were all denied a position on the first team in favour of Roo Island’s Team Captain. I argue that the position as team captain in the top 4 ensures a position on at least one of the all-star teams. We can also conclude that Layton Vickles, Derlyn Fonnet and Leera Heggle are on the all-star first team. Lilo Blumario is also on a team.

The position of right forward and right defender for the first team are vacant for the time being. Lilo Blumario could be the right forward on either team. Also, because Lost Desert placed first, and his high position on the top scorers page, Vonde Cayle is ensured the other left forward spot. XL Striker 3.8, Qlydae Wegg or Jair Tollet cannot be the other left forward.  We must remember that Top Goal Scorer placement does not ensure a spot on the all-star team. Otherwise, Zo Junior would have been considered before Vonde Cayle and “Dasher” Soley in ACII

In the past, the top 2 teams (Lost Desert and Kreludor) have received 2-3/10 positions each. 1-2/10 has been permitted to the 3/4th placed teams (Darigan Citadel and Roo Island). 1 has been permitted to the 5th place team. 0-1 has been permitted to the 6th place team.

Therefore, Lost Desert is permitted one more spot. In the past 1st place has received 2 places on the first team, and one on the second. Using this logic, No more Lost Desert players can be on the second team. Luvea Trivon cannot be on an all-star team. That leaves Derbi Azar and Lamelle Turow for positions on the first team.

So far, my candidates are as follows.

First team:
LF: Layton Vickles
RF: Lilo Blumario or Derbi Azar or Zenor Kevix
LD: Derlyn Fonnet
RD: Lamelle Turow or Tormo Frein
GK: Leera Heggle

Second Team: (Brackets due to possible change between formation)
LF: Vonde Cayle
(CF): Elon Hughlis
(RF): Lilo Blumario or Elon Hughlis or Keetra Deile or Tandrak Shaye or Zenor Kevix
(LD): Fenny Vail or Kep Bonnefie
(CD/RD)Coco Metrone or Tormo Frien or Gordo Grunnels
GK: Jurin T. or Reshar Collifay

———————————–

Part 2:  I’ll start off with two red truths.

The fifth place teams gets a single position on the second team. Maraqua is guaranteed a position. Krawk Island and Meridell do not qualify for the all-star teams, regardless of their performance during the cup. “Dasher” Soley and “Wizard” Windelle do not qualify for a position on the teams.

And I’ll repeat, having a position on the top scorers list does not guarantee a spot on the all-star team, otherwise the team will be full of top scorers. Mirsha Grelinek, Zo Junior, Kayn Hireck and Bertie Shurtz do not qualify for a position on the all-star team. We can also theorise that… Virtupets may get a spot on the team. If it did, the spot would likely go to Keetra Deile. On Team Virtupets, none of the robots are able to get a position.

Each all-star team will follow 2+2 format, so team defence can also be recognised. Keetra Deile and Tandrak Shaye  cannot be on the second team.

Also, The Neopets Team does not follow the same logic as the Neopian Public, this article is written using The Neopets Team logic.

Now, we’ll use some blue to theorise the remaining positions on the teams.

Lamelle Turow was 3rd runner up for Rookie of the Year in his debut. This indicates that he is an excellent defender, and a key element in Lost Desert’s team. This then eliminates Derbi Azar from gaining a position on either team.

Elon Hughlis will receive the position of Right Forward on the second team, due to his leadership, but also for being an excellent forward. Being Roo Island’s Team Captain, and being a right forward, Lilo Blumario is unable to receive a position on the second team, but in ensured a position on the first team.

Reshar Collifay has received a position on the all-star team several times before, and has also been voted a runner up for Rookie of the Year, and Most Valuable Player. He will receive the position of goal keeper on the second team. Team Darigan Citadel can have no more than 2/10 people on the all-star teams.

Since Darigan can have no more than two players appearing, Tormo Frein cannot have a position. Kreludor needs at least 2 players out of 10 on the teams. The other position will co to Coco Metrone.

In the left position, Fenny Vail has proved to be a good defender, having reached the all-star team many times, and being the stated reason Roo Island beat Lost Desert in the first Altador Cup. Kep Bonefire will not get the position because the second Darigan Position went to the goal keeper.

So, I theorise that the first team will look like this:
LF: Layton Vickles
RF: Lilo Blumario
LD: Derlyn Fonnet
RD: Lamelle Turow
GK: Leera Heggle

And the second will look  like this:

LF: Vonde Cayle
RF: Elon Hughlis
LD: Fenny Vail
RD: Coco Metrone
GK: Reshar Collifay

The All-Star teams of ACV

Given that TNT has abondoned the idea of All-Star teams, I’ve decided to give my humble opinion on the matter.

1st All Star team:

Left Forward: Layton Vickles (DC)

An obvious choice. He was top goal scorer!

Center Forward: Wizard Windelle (MD)

MD were in a hair’s inch of getting to the finals despite finishing 8th overall.

Right Forward: Lilo Blumario (RI)

This was actually a difficult choice to make. However, consider the fact that Lilo Blumario is a right forward, a position that is seldom or rarely seen on the top goal scorer’s list and that Jair did not make the list. It is likely that Lilo, along with Dasher were the top right forwards in the entire AC.

Defender: Derlyn Fonnet (KD)

Captain of the second best team in the AC.

Goalkeeper: Leera Heggle (LD)

How about duh? Does that explanation work for you?
Captain of the best team in the AC.

2nd All-Star team:

Left Forward: XL Striker 3.8 (VP)

One of the best scorers in the game and led the top goal scorers list for a long period of time.

Center forward: Elon Hughlis (MQ)

One of the best “Center” forwards in this year’s AC.

Right Forward: “Dasher” Soley (KI)

One of the few “right” forwards to have ever made it to the top goal scorer’s list. He may not have even graced his presence on the list this year but considering KI sort of bucking the winner’s curse, (in the sense that they were in competition for the finals) I think he deserves credit.

Defender: Luvea Trivon (LD)

They weren’t as consistent as they were in previous years but who cares? Remember the formation glitch that lasted a week early in the tournament? Shudders at thought of getting past gigantic red draik.

Goalkeeper: Jurin T (KD)

The Kreludans may not be ecstatic about him but it is said that he’s tough to score on after 10 goals.

TNT usually honours 5 or 6 teams but given things were apparently close this year, I’ve decided to go with players from 8 different teams.

I may occasionally post some off-season news so if you’re a crazy AC addicted fan that comes to this site at a time when no one person on Earth is even thinking of the AC, you’ll at least have something to read about.

My next future article will cover what prizes TNT should come out with and the plot points they should be worth. I’m afraid I don’t know when I’ll write that. So for now, goodbye!

Lost Desert wins, Faerieland not last… Or even second last.

Leera Heggle lead Team Lost Desert to victory, and I am very pleased. ❤ *polishes Gold trophy*

I’d like to take this chance to thank all my readers for their comments, input, and patience (for when I did not post. Sometimes it was because I’m busy with real life, other times, because I was busy playing… But sometimes, I was just lazy.)

As a member of Lost Desert, and what I’d like to think of as an important position in S.A.N.D.Y., I’d like to thank and congratulate my team-mates for their support and dedication, even though we did have a lot of in-team tension, we do come together when we need it the most. Though I am not on good terms with SOTAC, I’d like to thank them for their efforts and wish them good luck on which ever top-tiered team they join next year.

To members of all the other teams, I’d like to congratulate you on your efforts, especially to the members of Kreludor and Darigan Citadel,  who ranked second and third respectively. To those who earned it, I hope you enjoy your pirate paint brushes. I’m about 10k short. 😦 But I do get a lovely snow yooyu.

During the off-season, I will sometimes post some Altador Cup related posts. Mostly artwork I have drawn. For example, my humanised Lost Desert team (may do other teams when my other duties are done). Currently, the majority of the team is too not-safe-for-work to show here. But here’s a sneak peak!

Cheers!
Love, Tails.

Final Results!

Lost Desert won the Cup, so congratulations to them- I know they’ve been striving for 1st place for a long time!

That means Kreludor got 2nd place. Good job to them- they’ve been a strong team every year they played, and they just barely missed out on a trophy last year when they came in 4th, so I’m sure they’re glad that they finally got a trophy.

Darigan came in 3rd place. Personally, I’m just happy that we got a trophy instead of a participant medal. This makes us the only team to have a complete collection of trophies (gold, silver, and bronze). It also makes us the first previous winner to get another trophy.

So Roo Island came in 4th. It must be disappointing for them that they’re stuck with a participant medal, but they proved that they could recover from the winner’s curse, and since they didn’t make the top 3, they probably won’t be swamped with freeloaders next year, so they have a good shot at making the top tier again next year and doing better.

Maraqua won the 2nd tier, coming in 5th place- the same spot they got last year. Virtupets got 6th- the best they’ve ever done, and a huge climb from last year’s 12th place finish. I believe they hold the record for the biggest climb in the standings in a single year.

Krawk Island came in 7th place, continuing the tradition of the previous year’s winner coming in 7th the next year (broken only once by RI, who came in 9th after winning the previous year). That means that Meridell got 8th place, which must be pretty disappointing for them after just barely missing getting into the top tier.

Terror Mountain beat Tyrannia, proving that SOSD and MSN together are worth more than SS (there was some confusion about this for some reason, but I’m pretty sure all side games are weighted equally).  That means that TM won the 3rd tier, taking 9th place, an improvement over their 13th place finish from last year. That puts Tyrannia in 10th place.

Shenkuu took 11th place, meaning that they fell 9 places from their 2nd place finish last year, further than any team has ever fallen in a single year. Haunted Woods got 12th place- despite their seeming recovery near the end of the second half of the DRR, they’ve continued to place worse every year. But there’s always hope to turn it around next year.

Brightvale won the 4th tier, coming in 13th. Mystery Island got 14th (which nobody would have believed at the start of the AC). Faerieland managed to beat out Kiko Lake and come in 15th- in all 5 ACs, FL has come in either 15th or 16th place. Good job to FL for coming in above 3 other teams. That means that KL got 16th place.

As most expected, Altador won the consolation tier, getting 17th place, while Moltara got stuck with 18th place.

Looking at the final standings, Maraqua has the best record in YYB for the year, 25-6-7, and Darigan was just narrowly behind with a YYB record of 25-5-8.

Tyrannia has the best SS record, 33-3-2. TY also has the best side game record overall.

Terror Mountain, of course, got the best SOSD record, 36-0-2.

Kreludor had the best MSN record, 29-4-5.

Layton Vickles of Darigan was the top goal scorer of the year.

If you look at the standings after the finals- as opposed to the official standings based on the final matches- then the standings are as follows:

1. LD
2. DC
3. KD
4. MQ
5. RI
6. KI
7. VP
8. MD
9. HW
10. TY
11. SK
12. TM
13. BV
14. MI
15. AL
16. FL

Of course, the true official standings, after the finals matches, are as follows:

1. LD
2. KD
3. DC
4. RI
5. MQ
6. VP
7. KI
8. MD
9. TM
10. TY
11. SK
12. HW
13. BV
14. MI
15. FL
16. KL
17. AL
18. MT

Well, as soon as the excitement of getting the final results has died down, it will be time for the cherished yearly tradition of Complaining About the Prizes.

Prizes are up…

July 5th: You’re So Ugly When You Cry

Hey, I’m sorry to push down some wonderful posts on this blog, but no need to worry-this is my last for ACV ;). I’m on vacation, so preparing daily posts have been difficult when you’re in a place as great as California. This is just me saying my thanks. First of all, I would like to thank Alex for setting up this astounding blog (especially after the off-season disaster,) and even if the first AC.net has vanished, Google Reader will always have the old posts :). My next thanks go to this year’s super-smart writers: Chaos, Chris, Tails, Neon and Komor. If it was just me writing this blog, there’d be too many days with boring posts- or not even a post! Your articles have all been interesting and on the rare occasion, worth reading (kidding. 😀 )

Shoutout to the lovely readers, because without you, I’d be crushed and emotionally hurt. A very good reader comments though, and on my posts, there’s been comment arguments, but I still want to give a special mention to the people who add so much more to an article my commenting (Ivar, idriya, Travis, Lauren, zhonglv, hol123, Kougy, KLer, Myth, Byakuya) and those are just the ones I’ve seen comment a bit on my articles, but anybody who comments is doing good for the site and the readers.

Thanks, TNT for a great ACV. The prizes, players, results, achievements and Staff Tourney have all made this the best Altador Cup to date. I even bought the NC Maraqua Jersey!

This year was also fantastic because of SK’s fall, TM’s streak, MD’s skill, LD’s drama, KD’s setup to be next year’s numbah one, MT shattering expectations, FL doing better, BV tricking us at the beginning, VP being good at YYB too, KI not cursing as bad as expected, DC/RI returning from the curse, HW/MI upsetting like no other and Maraqua for being awesome every year, and getting first tier next year.

Lastly, let’s give a big round of applause to drsloth.com, for supplying the wide array of character images that were supporting venom’s articles. 🙂 If it’s images you desire, they’re your supplier!
